Participatory financing, or crowdfunding, has established itself as a real alternative funding method. It is particularly well-suited to the environmental sector, a field for which there is strong public sensitivity.

In 2021, the environmental and renewable energy sectors (ENR) raised over 188 million euros. This represents a 95% increase compared to 2020, placing the sector in 2nd position after real estate (according to Financement participatif France).
Requested by many eco-businesses, PEXE and ADEME have produced a dedicated methodological sheet.
