ADEME
Overview
ADEME, or the Agency for Ecological Transition, is a French public institution under the supervision of several ministries (Environment, Energy, Research). Established in 1990, its main mission is to support and accelerate the ecological transition in France, aiming for a future that is lower in carbon and more respectful of resources.
Specifically, ADEME acts on all fronts of this transition:
-
Awareness and information: It informs and advises citizens, businesses, local authorities, and researchers about environmental issues and practical solutions to adopt.
-
Support and mobilisation: It offers training, advice, and personalised support to help all stakeholders take action.
-
Project funding: It provides financial aid through calls for projects and dedicated funds to support innovation, research, and the deployment of sustainable solutions in diverse areas such as renewable energy, circular economy, building energy efficiency, waste management, air quality, and biodiversity.
-
Expertise sharing and research: ADEME produces studies, shares knowledge, and supports research and innovation to advance solutions addressing environmental challenges.
