Ecologic
Overview
Ecologic is a French non-profit eco-organisation, accredited by public authorities to manage operational systems for the prevention, collection, and recycling of used or end-of-life products from sectors including household appliances, electronics, digital technology, air conditioning, mobility, sports, tools, and leisure.
In line with the principle of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Article L541-10 of the Environmental Code, Ecologic oversees three of the 18 existing EPR streams:
-
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE)
-
Sports and Leisure Articles (ASL)
-
DIY and Garden Equipment (ABJ), specifically those powered by combustion engines (e.g. tillers, leaf blowers, lawnmowers)
Acting in the public interest, Ecologic carries out five key regulatory and operational missions related to sustainability, collection, recycling, awareness-raising, and compliance.
These missions are carried out with the involvement and for the benefit of the stakeholders concerned (producers, retailers, local authorities, social and solidarity economy actors, reuse and treatment operators, repairers, associations, etc.). An open and inclusive governance structure, involving stakeholders through a dedicated committee, underpins this collective effort.
By developing and promoting services for manufacturers and holders of used products, Ecologic aims to help society as a whole transition to a circular economy model. Its objective is to manage as many products as possible, treating them according to a hierarchy that prioritises avoiding waste where possible, and recycling where necessary.
In doing so, Ecologic contributes to preserving our living environment and preventing the waste of natural resources.
